Training Plans

Orientation

Orientation (§748.831) must be completed before any contact with children and covers rules, organizational policies, and the needs of the children served; FTL can co-facilitate this training with your team.

Specialized Courses

Safe sleeping — 1 hour, required for caregivers serving children under 2 (§748.883), focused on safe sleep practices and an introduction to the Shaken Baby Syndrome, SIDS, and Early Brain Development course.

Transportation Safety

A required training covering transportation protocols, supervision requirements, and vehicle safety to ensure safe travel for children in residential care as required by §748.930.

Pre-Service

All Pre-Service courses are 1–2 hours each and include an assessment, a personalized certificate, and documentation of the instructor's qualifications, as required by §748.863. FTL offers 18 courses that fully meet these standards.

First Aid and CPR

Residential Child Care caregivers must complete Pediatric, Child, and Adult CPR/First Aid/AED certification to meet §748.911 emergency preparedness requirements.

Water Safety

Water Safety Training provides caregivers with the knowledge and skills to supervise children safely around water, as required by §748.881 and §748.943.

Annaul Training

Residential Child Care Programs require caregivers to complete 13 annual training courses aligned with their duties and the needs of the children in care, as specified in §748.943.

Emergency Behavior Intervention

Provides caregivers with required training on safe, approved techniques for responding to behavioral crises in residential care settings, as per §748.947.

Trafficking Victims Training

Equips caregivers with the skills to identify potential trafficking victims and provide safe, supportive responses to meet §748.4659.

  • What content is included in each training course?

  • Are your trainers qualified?

    Yes. All FTL trainers meet or exceed state requirements for trainer qualifications. Our instructors hold relevant educational credentials, professional experience in early childhood and residential care, and documented qualifications for each course they deliver. Certified American Red Cross instructors provide pediatric CPR courses.

  • Can I purchase a course for a staff member or someone other than myself?

    Absolutely. You can purchase training for staff, caregivers, or other team members. Simply select the option “Purchase for Someone Else” during checkout, and the course will be assigned to the correct learner.

  • Do courses meet state licensing requirements?

    Yes. All FTL courses meet Texas DFPS requirements for Orientation, Pre-Service, Annual Training, and specialized training such as Pediatric/Child/Adult CPR, Transportation Safety, and Water Safety.

  • How long do I have to complete a course?

    Individual courses typically allow 30 days of access, while bundles allow 6 months. Annual subscriptions give full-year access to all available courses.

  • Do courses come in Spanish or other languages?

    Yes. Many courses are available in Spanish, with additional languages available based on program needs.

  • Can FTL tailor training specifically for our program?
